Point of View: 13 Reasons Why

The book 13 Reasons Why could have been written in the point of view of every person that Hannah gave the tapes to because every person was a reason why she committed suicide. The story is told in Clay Jenson's point of view. He is ninth person on Hannah Baker's list. Clay is the one that wasn't suppose to be on the list but he needed to be because he meant something to Hannah in a good way. He was someone who didn't put her down or made up rumors about her but actually connected with her. I think Clay being the narrator was a good choice because he wasn't a jerk to Hannah like everybody else therefor being somewhat there for her and acting nice. But in the end it wasn't enough and that's what makes the book even more sad.
I think another good choice for narrator could have been Zach Dempsy number seven on Hannah's list. Zach was the person that came over to assist Hannah after a boy she was on a date with tried to sexually touch her maybe because he thought it was okay due to all of the rumors. Hannah doesn't give him the attention that he wants and he is embarrassed in front of his friends. Later he steals all of Hannah's 'compliment cards' from her bag in her Peer Communication class. During that time in Hannah's life those compliments were the only thing that made Hannah feel positive but Zach decided she didn't deserve them. If Zach's point of view were told he might say why he thought that she didn't deserve them and what made him so mad at Hannah when all she was feeling was hurt. I would like to see Zach actually feeling bad for her because when he listens to the tapes he'll know just how much pain he inflicted on her. Also why he thought that Hannah should have been all over him after something terrible just happened to her.
Zach is the person that I wonder most of why he did the things he did. Everyone did something bad to her but he was one of the people that intentionally meant to hurt when she was already falling apart. His actions was one of the ones that had the most impact on Hannah and even when she tried to confront him he just ran away from her leaving Hannah in tears.

13 Reasons Why: Quarter 3

I read 13 Reason Why by Jay Asher. Clay(narrator) receives a package of old cassette tapes one day on his doorstep. He puts them in and begins to hear a voice that belongs to Hannah. Hannah committed suicide a couple of weeks ago. On these tapes are thirteen people that in some way made her come to this decision and she talks about each one. All these tapes are passed around to each person, as they listen to each one they discover who Hannah really was and not at all the rumors that everyone followed.
I would recommend this book because it unraveled the truth. Everybody on the tapes linked to each other one by one exposing who they really are and what they did. Also the rumors that Hannah had to deal with were made by some of those people like Justin which was what her reputation was built around. Nobody wanted to get to know her for real because they were afraid of those rumors but in the end all she wanted was a real friend and not someone who judged her which was Clay.
Clay mostly decides to believe what he has heard but after a while of working in movie theater together he sees that she is different and they get to know each other too. Even though Clay is on the tapes he doesn't belong on them, Hannah admits she just wants him to know how much he meant to her. But he keeps following everyone else finding out the secrets.
There is a lot of suspense that builds up to the end of the tapes. As Hannah described it, its like a snowball that's rolling downhill that keeps getting bigger and bigger until finally it is too big and she can't take it anymore. That is where she gives up on life also where the tapes end. Even though she is already dead when she talks to the people on the tapes it doesn't seem real until they are all over. Clay is always saying what he should have done to save her how he could of been there for her. There were all the signs that she was depressed but he never picked them up. The only thing he can do now and the rest of them is listen because no one can change the past.

Vampire Diaries: The Awakening and the Struggle

.
Vampire Diaries: The Awakening and the Struggle
                                                 Choice book report
I read the Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith. Elena is the main character and lives in Fell's Church. She doesn't care much for the small town but knows that she is the queen of it. She is the trendsetter, everybody at her school wants to be her friend, and they follow what she does. Elena has silky, straight golden hair, pale skin, and lapis lazuli eyes. Her parents died in a car accident and she now lives with her aunt Judith along with her little sister, Margaret. She cannot stop visiting the near by grave yard where her parents are buried in and friends always find her there writing in her blue velvet diary. Elena has felt lost like she was always trying to look for something. When Stephan, a mysterious new boy from a different country comes along she finds that she is suppose to be with him. Elena is always determined. When Stephan first came to her school and always tried to avoid her she wanted him to be hers. She has strong emotions about things and people. She once hated Damon, Stephan's brother who was tormenting him by making him think he killed the people that Damon did. Her feelings of hatred for him were so strong that Damon could feel them from her school to the graveyard. And her feelings for Stephan which she never tried to hide even when he would never say how he felt about her. Elena is a dynamic character. Before Stephan and Damon came along she didn’t care for anything or anyone but herself. She was inconsiderate and selfish. The popularity boys drooling over her was all she thought there was to it. She falls in love with Stephen and knows longer cares about moving on to the next boy or being popular. Her true passion for her small town comes out in the end when she is fighting for it and everybody inside against evil. And after fighting for Stephen too from people she thought would never betray her, her true friends were there right by her side. She used to take Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt for granted but she realizes they would never back down to help her no matter how high the danger was. Elena also changes physically by becoming a creature of the darkness, a vampire.
*                                                                                 *                                                                          *

I liked this book because it was full mysteries and two people who try to push through it. The Vampire Diaries takes place in a small town called, Fell’s Church that holds a lot of supernatural things. Elena is the queen bee of her school and she is beginning her senior year. Stephan a new boy at the school, has moved from Italy to start fresh and get away from his brother, Damon. Elena doesn’t know why he tries so hard to keep a distance with her. She reminds him of a dark secret that he has kept for hundreds of years. Eventually he cannot stay away from her and falls in love. Damon, Stephan’s irresponsible brother, moves into the small town too first watching over Elena and terrorizing her and Stephan. Strange things start to happen exactly when he appears. Numerous people die with every single drop of their blood being taken out.
Caroline one of Elena's best friend is jealous of her popularity and becomes her enemy along with Tyler a tall, masculine boy. Elena keeps a diary that she finds out one day is stolen, the same day that Damon had snuck into her friend, Bonnie's house when she was over. Somehow the diary leads to Caroline which has her come up with the perfect idea to accuse Stephan of the killings and have the whole town believe it. It becomes a race for Elena, Stephan and her three closest friends Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt to get back her diary and save Stephan. Damon becomes the hero miraculously getting the diary when no one else could. But all evidence still leads to Damon of the killings, animals turning against people, and one icident where Stephan nearly dies all very supernatural things. But Damon knows that he didn't kill all those people and though he despises his brother he doesn't want to kill him. Their mystery leads to a sudden hault when Elena is killed( spoiler) by the culpret. Devestated with anger and sadness Stephan goes on a rampage drinking tons of amounts of Tyler, Caroline and other innocent people. He believes that Damon was the one who killed her and the two end in a fight of death. The super natural power doesn't stop there and Elena dies but becomes something like Stephan, a vampire. And she can't remember hardly anything except for one person. The book ends on a cliff hanger but the unsolved mystery leads on to the next one in the series. It is called, The Vampire Diaries: The Fury and Dark Reunion.

The Notebook: Part 2

I would very much recommend, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. It is one of the best love story novels I have ever read. It tells about two people, Noah and Allie who are destined to be together. They met each other when they were only teenagers and fell in love then. They’d spend all their time together but one day unexpectedly Allie left him. Noah never once forgot about Allie. When he dated people he would be thinking about her instead. He worked physically hard, repairing and building his dream house, just to get his mind off her. Allie comes back to him but she is engaged but she felt like she had to see Noah one last time. Their time together brings back old unforgotten emotions and they fall back in love with each other. They stay together for days and that’s when Lon, Allie’s fiancĂ© get suspicious and finds out where she is. He is about to go over to Noah’s to get her back. That’s when Allie then has to leave again and this time for good if she chooses to marry Lon. I liked all the obstacles that Allie and Noah go through because they fight past it all. That shows how strong they are and they will do anything for one another. Allie does come back for Noah and their lives then begin together.
The book cuts too when they are old and have to live in a care taking home. Allie develops a heartbreaking disease that makes her forgot the people she loves. Through all the hurtful things Allie says to Noah because of the disease he never leaves her. He even miraculously helps Allie to remember who they he is simultaneously. Those little miracles help him push forward to keep helping Allie too. It shows how passionate they are for each other and nothing could ever come between them. One thing I wish the author would have told more about is why Allie would leave Noah after they were so much in love. Her feelings that would make her pack her bags and just leave him. I really enjoyed this book enjoyed this book a lot and found it to be one of my favorites.

The Notebook: Part 1 choice book report

I read, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. Noah Cahlon is the main character. He lives alone in New Bern, North Carolina on the country side near a lake. Noah is hardworking and likes to read poetry. He has always been shy and quiet even as a kid. At age 4 he wouldn’t even speak that was when his dad introduced him to a famous poet, Walt Whitman. Since then he has always loved to read poetry. Noah has never forgotten Allie, his first true love, and spends most of his time working to get her off his mind- as his neighbor would say. Noah never gives up. He wrote Allie when she had left him fourteen years ago, dozens of letters even though he never received a single reply. He didn’t give up on love either and kept trying to date. He also would never want to hurt anyone. Finally after so many years Allie comes back and the two fall back in love with each other but she is engaged and has to make a decision to leave back to her fiancĂ© and never come back or stay with Noah. Noah tries to persuade her to stay but also understands that there is another man who is in loves her and will know why she has to leave.
He knows what is right and always follows his heart. He inspired Allie to paint again because he knows that she has amazing talent for it. After hearing from him say that she does try again and realizes how big her passion is for it and later her paintings grow to be world wide. He has always known that Allie was the one for him, that they were meant to be together. No matter how many obstacles they faced he was always going to stay with her. As they grow older together, Allie is diagnosed with a serious disease called alzheimers. She forgets who Noah is to her and soon they are not able to be together. But Noah breaks the rules just to see her because he can’t let her go. Sometimes when he does see her she breaks his heart because she doesn’t know who she is. That doesn’t stop Noah though, and he keeps putting in all his effort for her to remember who they were.
